Storytelling is an ideal tool for discovering the links between our individual stories and the deeper cultural traditions that shape our lives. This class will help you find stories that you didn't know you had inside you and strengthen your appreciation of the cultural heritage running through your individual and family stories. We will explore a family/ personal story and folktale from each of your cultures. Pride, self-knowledge, and healing can come from finding your own story. Movement, working with different points of view, developing the characters in your stories, exploring the emotion and color of your characters and story, improvisational techniques will all be part of the class. This class can work with new and experienced tellers. Please bring a folktale from your own culture to start. Maximum enrollment: 12 students.
