Ignite Literacy, Curiosity, and Joy Through Storytelling

Bring your classroom to life with Storybridge—where Stagebridge elders and master artist-instructors use the performing arts to spark imagination, strengthen literacy, and build cultural understanding. Our intergenerational storytellers captivate students of all ages through humor, history, and heart.

Choose the Format That Fits Your School

Single-Day Special Events

Perfect for celebrations like MLK Day, Grandparents Day, Lunar New Year, and other cultural or community moments. These one-day experiences blend performance, storytelling, and student participation to honor heritage, uplift voices, and inspire reflection.

Assemblies

High-energy, school-wide performances that introduce students to the power of oral storytelling, character creation, and shared cultural narratives. Assemblies are engaging, interactive, and designed to leave students buzzing with ideas.

Classroom Residencies

Dive deeper with multi-week storytelling residencies that build literacy skills, confidence, and collaboration. Students practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening while creating original stories rooted in curriculum themes. Residencies are tailored to support state CORE standards in literacy, history, and social-emotional learning.

After School Programs

Keep the creativity flowing beyond the bell. Our after-school programs give students space to explore storytelling, performance, and ensemble work in a supportive, joyful environment.

Every Storybridge program is customized to meet your learning goals and your students' needs. Tell us what you're dreaming up, and we'll help you build a program that inspires, connects, and transforms.

“For the teachers, students, parents, for the community – [Storybridge] really unites all our parts with a purpose.”
— — Principal of Cesar Chavez School in Richmond
“Stories are the medium for passing on values from one generation to another. Opportunities to learn from elders are much fewer than in the past. We re‑form this bridge between the generations. Having a human interaction with borrowed grandparents is the perfect condition for learning.”

— — Former Director of Storybridge

Backed by Results. Proven to Make a Difference.

During a four‑year U.S. Department of Education grant, Storybridge underwent a full external evaluation by Berkeley's Data Driven Decisions. Their findings were clear:

Students in the Storybridge program statistically outperformed students in the control groups.

Students showed measurable gains in dramatic arts skills, stronger listening comprehension, and—most notably—fifth graders scored higher on California's literary response and analysis assessments. In other words, Storybridge doesn't just inspire students. It moves the needle on academic achievement.

Bring Elder Echoes to Your Community

Looking to spark creativity, build literacy, and celebrate intergenerational connection? Elder Echoes is a joyful storytelling program that invites children to interview a beloved elder—whether a grandparent, neighbor, or family friend—and see their stories come to life on stage.

We're currently partnering with schools, after-school programs, summer camps, and community centers across the Bay Area to bring this powerful experience to young learners and their families.

Let's collaborate! We'll provide:

✦ A flexible, standards-aligned curriculum

✦ Professional teaching artists and trained elder performers

✦ All materials and support for student participation

✦ A culminating performance or community celebration
