Seniors Reaching Out

Our programs are designed and presented by some of the Bay Area’s most talented teaching artists. Each is specially trained to use the performing arts as a tool to unlock creativity, memories, and mobility in our seniors. Seniors Reaching Out has a long standing reputation for providing:

  • Artistic and healing workshops led by talented local instructors

  • Diverse performances from Stagebridge students and community members

  • Special events that invite elders into new social groups and artistic sharing spaces

ThEATER & PERFORMANCE

JOY OF IMPROV WITH ELANA ISAACS

Applied improvisation is a form of play that allows you to express yourself, find peace with the many parts of yourself, and connect with yourself and others in a healing way. You'll have the opportunity to tell your true stories, as well as dive into the imagination through fun structured activities. With guidance we'll create a space for your truths, challenges, and delights. By being present in the moment we will give ourselves permission to be truly alive and connected. Through both short games and group exercises, students will use their voices and bodies, and come away with a sense of rejuvenation and well-being. While you laugh with new and old friends, get ready to shout “Yes, and!” All abilities welcome and no experience necessary. (Workshop | Class)

WRITING & STORYTELLING

The Stories of Our Lives WITH STAGEBRIDGE STORYTELLERS

Our lives are full of funny moments, heartbreaking events, and small and big breakthroughs, from the sublime to the ridiculous. Stagebridge storytellers will light up your memories with personal stories, fables and folktales. Our teachers have the ability to guide you through short and long form tactics to help tell your stories. Both programs have the ability to enhance memories from their past and spark their listening, oral and comprehension skills. These stories can be a way of bringing back speaking and listening skills and have proven to heal the mind and the spirit. (Performance)
